Our executive director Tracey Davies has been recognised in the Mail and Guardian’s annual “Power of Women” showcase. For the past 18 years, the Power of Women initiative has honoured “exemplary South African women by recognising their professional achievements”. The 2024 cohort are described as “change-makers who have excelled above and beyond expectation in a time of great uncertainty, change and loss”.
Tracey is commended for her role in the formation in 2017 of Just Share, the first South African NGO to focus on corporate accountability and sustainable finance.
In her role as executive director, Tracey has led Just Share in filing the country’s first climate-related shareholder resolutions, pushed South Africa’s big banks to adopt fossil fuel financing policies, and advocated for wage gap disclosure and recognition of the impact of wage gaps on South Africa’s high levels of inequality.
Tracey considers it a great privilege to have been involved in establishing Just Share and to be part of the team that has built it into a respected and recognised NGO that makes an important contribution to social and environmental justice in South Africa.
