Just Share announces the appointment of Nicole Martens as new Executive Director

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Nicole Martens as our new Executive Director, effective 1 February 2026. Nicole brings a wealth of relevant skills and experience to Just Share, with a career spanning investment, stewardship, research, and advisory roles.

As a development economist and environmental scientist, Nicole’s career has focused on supporting corporate accountability, responsible investment, and a just transition in South Africa, objectives which fully align with Just Share’s mission and vision.

Nicole has worked both as an investor and alongside investors and has advised institutional investors, financial institutions, listed companies, regulators, and policymakers across and beyond Africa on sustainable development and responsible investment. Her experience includes policy and regulatory analysis, stewardship and ESG strategy, impact and responsible investment instrument design, and stakeholder engagement.

Nicole joins us from Krutham, a research-led African consultancy specialising in financial innovation in emerging markets, where she led impact investing research and ESG advisory. Previously, Nicole held senior leadership positions, including Head of Stewardship at Old Mutual Investment Group and Head of Africa and the Middle East at the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment.

Nicole is committed to applying her expertise to harness the power of responsible capital markets in support of a just and low-carbon transition in South Africa. Just Share’s board of directors welcomes Nicole to the team and is confident that she will bring the skills and experience needed to lead the next phase of Just Share’s work and impact.
