Redirecting capital flows

Transitioning to a low-carbon economy and preventing catastrophic climate change requires that capital flows be urgently redirected away from fossil fuels.

The institutions which own and manage capital have a key role to play in supporting the just transition.

Africa has a unique opportunity to direct capital flows towards the development of sustainable, equitable energy generation which prioritises energy access for all. This is the continent’s best chance to proactively close the development gap with the global North and end the cycle of exploitation of the continent’s resources at the expense of the well-being and dignity of its people.
