Emma is a senior analyst in Just Share’s climate team. Her work focuses on catalysing action in the South African corporate and financial sector to support a just transition to a low-carbon, sustainable and inclusive economy. She also leads Just Share’s work highlighting the practices and impacts of corporate climate lobbying in South Africa.
Emma holds a BA LLB from the University of Cape Town, and an LLM (cum laude) in International Human Rights Law from Lund University, for which she received a Graduate Scholarship for International Studies from the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust. She was admitted as an attorney in the High Court of South Africa in 2015, having completed her articles at Bowmans, where she also briefly practised in the litigation department.
Before joining Just Share in 2019, Emma worked for various NGOs in the public interest sector, including as part of a team of activists who developed a submission to the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture on corruption at the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA).
Emma’s writing on issues relating to climate change, greenwashing, the just transition, and corporate climate lobbying has been published in some of South Africa’s leading news and academic publications.
